(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The "Israeli" army recently performed an unusual drill, in which it practiced moving tanks and heavy vehicles over the Jordan River. The exercise, which took place a week and a half ago under the command of the brigade commander 401, Col. Enab Shlou, was the first of its kind since 20 years.
Elite units participated in the exercise where it cleared the transition area from mines and fought with soldiers who played the role of anti-tank units. Troops from section 401, which operate the Merkava Mk 4, air force troops and the Corps of Engineers, also participated by putting bridges and engineering instruments recently purchased by the land unit, under the command of Major General Sami Turgeman.
Colonel Shlo said that the exercise, which lasted seven hours, included a combination of new capabilities recently acquired by the army. "The special exercise, conducted at night for the first time in 20 years, prepared the unit 401 and all units for the future challenges. You do not have to be a genius to figure out what else would Brigade 401 do and how many rivers and streams they crossed to reach their way," he said. "It proved that we can face the threat and much more."
Brigades' Commanders attended the exercise, as well as commander of the army's northern corps, General Noam Tivon. Everybody came to know more about the military capabilities the soldiers have been gaining over the past year, to be able to cross the river at night in a complex condition of fighting against special skillful anti-tank units.
